Modenas
"The Bird of Curves"

The Modena has existed for many centuries. It has been known to be bred as a flying breed dating as far back as 1327. In the last quarter of the 1800's the Modena began the process of changing from a flying breed to that of the Show breed we have today.

The National Modena Club preserves and promotes this breed and has a membership of over 500.

The Modena is bred in two groups, schietti and gazzi. It is also bred in magnani (almond).

(Above information originally accumulated by Stephen Scott NB.)

The Breed has dropped off in Atlantic Canada in recent years.

Barry & Ed McPhee of NB., have a few as does Lois Brown of NS.
